 Sermon Podcast
Sunday, April 25th, 2010   Back during the NCAA Men’s basketball tournament those who predicted Duke would be the eventual champion looked smart.  They were right.  On the popular Yahoo on-line tournament contest, 5.8% of participants selected Duke as the champion.  As smart as that pick was, those who chose Butler to make the finals were brilliant.  Only 0.2% of participants chose Butler to make it to make it that far.  The Duke or Butler fan who chose correctly might say he had “faith” in his team.  They believed when others would not.  I would suggest that such a statement gets “faith” only partly right.  I’ll explain as we continue our lessons on faith in Hebrews 11:24-27.  Download MP3 Audio
It is not uncommon for Christians to give Biblical names to their children. Parents read about the character and example of women in Scripture, like Elisabeth or Ruth, and give those to their own child, in part to express their desire to see the same godliness and devotion in their daughter’s life. Not every hero of faith gets the same name recognition, however. It has been some time since anyone in our church named a child Amram or Jochebed. These names may sound unusual or unfamiliar, but they are the names of a husband and wife, held up as models of faith in the record of Hebrews chapter eleven. Our message Sunday morning will be about their faith and will be taken from verse twenty-three. Download MP3 Audio
