Nate Vaughn discusses how to "Be Prepared" using text from Nehemiah 1-4. Download MP3 Audio
Sunday, July 17th 2011 What an exciting time for our church!  Fourteen of us have been planning, preparing and praying for a special ministry opportunity in the country of Brazil, and Sunday we have the privilege of commissioning them for the journey that begins Monday.  Although we know that God can break into our lives in unexpected ways whenever He wants, it is not every week that we know ahead of time that God has something in store for us that will shape the rest of our lives.  Just imagine, for the next two weeks, our ministry team will be working together, sharing together, and serving together in a new country and cultural experience.  They have the blessing of being an encouragement to Dan and Kelly Cook, and the opportunity to be ministered to by Dan and Kelly as well.  What a tremendous privilege we have to send this team to represent our entire church, and what a tremendous responsibility it is to stand with them in prayer during this time.  A... Sunday, July 3rd, 2011 Sunday morning we return to our series for Communion Services in which we examine the passages where Jesus—during the days of His earthly ministry—tells of His coming suffering, death and resurrection. Jesus is preparing His followers to understand that the moment of His greatest humility is also the moment of profound glory. One pattern we have seen throughout this series is that the Disciples seems so slow to understand the implications of Jesus’ words. It seems that they just don’t have a category for a Messiah who would suffer and die. Although they were slow to grasp what Jesus meant, this doesn’t mean no one had any ability to understand. In our passage for this morning, Jesus refers to his impending death in response to an act of devotion by one who was known to listen attentively to Him. This individual was Mary, the sister of Martha and Lazarus. Our text is John 12:1-11. Download MP3 Audio
Sunday, June 26th, 2011 We live in a day of increasing specialization. With the advancements of research and technology, it seems that one can be an expert only on an increasingly limited subject. Such experts are hesitant to express any opinions outside of their narrow band of study. This ought not to be true, however, of disciples. Followers of Jesus cannot just choose one area of obedience, and focus only on that. Disciples are generalists when it comes to exercising the different activities and priorities that Jesus gives to us. In our passage for Sunday morning, Jesus addresses four areas that are crucial to our spiritual walk. They also keep the disciple in balance as they are properly maintained. Our text is Luke 17:1-10.
