If you have ever been a parent or an athlete, you have either given or received a pep talk.  In the first 4 verses of 2Timothy 4, the Apostle Paul has given Pastor Timothy some challenging reminders on "preaching the Word of God".  While sharing the weightiness of this ministry and the difficult environment in which it takes place, he has given 5 directives to Timothy (and all pastors) on how he is to carry out this responsibility.  Paul concludes his admonition in recorded in verse 5 by giving a final "pep talk" on keeping to the task. Lots of books and articles are written about preaching.  Many discuss what types of preaching are effective in our contemporary culture today.  All sorts of topics and opinions are given anywhere from what subjects should be preached or should not be, what type of preaching brings the most people to church, the attention span of the hearers and what visual equipment is needed to enhance the message. Maybe most of all we need to be reminded of what God says about preaching especially in this time period in which one writer says that many people are coming to church "seeking spiritual "fast food" that can be "fattening" but not so much "spiritually nourishing."  This week we will be considering a message titled "GOD'S EMPHASIS ON PREACHING" from 2 Timothy 4:1-5.  May we come away with the attitude toward preaching expressed 300 years ago by a preacher named Cotton Mather who said "the great design and intention of a Christian speaker is to restore the throne and do... How much does it cost?
The podcast itself is free, and most podcasting software is free.  This podcast works great with iTunes.

Do I need to have an iPod?
No, you don't need an iPod.  If you want to subscribe to the podcast, you will need podcasting software, such as iTunes.

Do I need hi-speed internet?
The average size of each sermon is 7-9 megabytes, so a hi-speed connection (DSL, Cable, T1) is recommended.  However, the podcast should still work with dial-up connections.

Do I need special software just to listen to the sermon?
No, you do not need podcasting software to listen to these sermons.  Simply click on the 'Download' link next to the sermon that you'd like to hear.  It will open up in MP3 format, and you can listen to it on your computer's default media player.
