Pastor's Corner by Pastor Adam Willis

Check List

Matthew 16:24-28 24 - Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. 26What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? 27For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done. 28I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."

Today I want to build off that idea of daily seeking God or taking up our Cross and making sure we keep God first in our life. It is a very easy thing to go through the day and be caught up in what is going on at home, work, or with the hunting season. But even in the business of life we should never allow our self to stray from keeping our focus and priority on God.

I like a good Check List it helps keep me going at work and at life, I even use one when i am shooting my bow going through the same process each time i shoot.

For life i have found this to be a good reminder/ check list for me.
- 1. Keep God First. 2. Love your family 3. Fill in the blank

Why should we keep God first well here are a few passages that remind us of the why.

Exodus 20 :1 – 21 - 10 commandments
Matthew 22: 34-40 - greatest commandments

Both the old law and the new law in the bible have us keeping God as number 1 and striving to love Him with all of our being. So to help us daily seek Him we need to make sure we are giving him the prime focus from our life. Let take a look at that check list again and how we can use it to keep us focused on God each and everyday.

1. Keep God First - Living for Him each and every day, spending time in his word, & giving thanks
2. Love your Family - God gave you them for a reason & we should respect and serve them
3. Fill in the blank - God desires us to live our life to glorify him how you do that involves the gifts and talents that he has given you & Be joyful and know that God is with you always.

Let's strive to keep God as #1 in our life each and everyday.
